Elm Hill. Norwich

Elm Hill is an historic lane in Norwich that dates back to the Tudor period and interestingly there are more Tudor houses on Elm Hill than in the whole of London. It was a chilly November day and after 10minutes of sketching I was getting pretty cold but i think the wobbly lines suited natural lean of the buildings.

Scenes with HDRI Lighting.

I have set up two basic scenes to experiment with HDRI (High Dynamic Range Image) lighting. HDRI can really increase rendering times however by using this technique you can achieve stunning realism quickly without the use of elaborate lighting set ups. Both scenes require the advanced render plug – in that comes with Cinema 4D.

Urban Sketchers.

Kuala Lumpur. Colonial District.

I made a visit with my sketchbook to the colonial district of Kuala Lumpur and here is the result. It was quite early in the day so not many people on the streets, a couple of hours later and the streets were lined with markets and eateries. The strong mix of temporary & permanent structures makes this area a visual treat and exciting place to draw.

Taormina. Sicily.

A walk up the steep hill beyond the Town center and into the offbeat residential part of town gives dramatic views across the bay but also really quirky viewpoints above the narrow medieval streets. All the buildings appear to sit tightly on top of one another from here with one propping up the next as they plod down the hillside.

ilha grande. Brazil.

looking off the coast you cant avoid the bobbing boats that are dotted all over the water. These jolly fishing boats are a strong memory of the big island. Endlessly spinning on the surface of the water didn’t allow much time however the challenge was their constantly shifting perspectives.
